19th Century

Leader Sewing Machine Company

The first sewing machines under the Leader brand were created in the USA back in 1870. They were produced in factories in Cleveland (Ohio) and St. Louis (Montana) until the end of the 19th century. The holding company was the Leader Sewing Machine Company, whose office was located in Springfield, Massachusetts. This is written about by Grace Rogers Cooper (1924-2004), a famous researcher of the history of sewing machines, an expert in textiles, and a curator at the Smithsonian Institution, in her famous book "The Sewing Machine: Its Invention and Development" (first edition 1968, second edition 1976)

          XX century

A.G. Mason Sewing Machine Company

In the 20th century, the production of sewing machines under the Leader brand continued. Now they were produced by the American company A.G. Mason Sewing Machine Company. This is evidenced by Charles Lowe in the book "Encyclopedia of Antique Sewing Machines" (1999 edition). At the end of the 19th century, this company was a small manufacturer from Ohio, USA. The owner of the company, Mr. Mason, bought the Florence Sewing Machine Company in the late 70s of the 18th century, thereby opening his own business, and continued to manufacture machines until 1916, when the A.G. Mason company was bought by the Domestic Sewing Machines company. Later it merged with the White company in 1920. Leader sewing machines were produced by A.G. Mason is on a par with such machines as Florence, New Century, Crown, White, some of which later became famous brands. Later, overlocks were produced under the Leader brand, including a 4-thread overlock, which was a progressive technological breakthrough at that time.

EUROPEAN SOLUTIONS & BUSINESS Co. Ltd.

The latest history of the Leader brand is associated with the British investment company European Solutions & Business Co. Ltd., when in 2011 the production of Leader sewing machines was launched at the production site of the Taiwanese company Kuangpo in China. The technological base for Leader machines with a vertical shuttle were machines previously manufactured by the Kuangpo plant for the English representative office of the Aisin Seiki Corporation. Co. Ltd., Japan - the manufacturer of the world-famous Toyota sewing machines. Thus, the modern competitive quality of the brand was initially ensured. Over the next decade, not only the model line of manufactured machines was actively developed, but also the network of production sites where they were created. Currently, Leader sewing machines and overlocks are manufactured in the workshops of the world's largest manufacturing plants:

DA VIET Mechanic, Vietnam

ZENG HSING Industrial, Vietnam, China, Taiwan

MITSUMISHI Industrial, Taiwan

SEWMASTER, Taiwan

ZHEJIANG ACME SEWING MACHINE, China

At present
